This nut is Steel and has a Course thread Internally. They have been removed from un-serviceable M38 Helmets, many I am sure were dug from the ground.
The Para Helmet's Design changed a few times and so did the Fasteners, please do your own research, I do not know which ones are Early or Late Production.
These types of Fasteners for the M38 Paratrooper helmet are Very Very Hard to find.
